Meet our church staff.
Reverend: Kirstin Autio – Minister of word, sacrament, and pastoral care
B. Kin (Bachelor of Kinesiology) from UFV
M. Div (Master of Divinity) from VST
Kirstin has been serving with Carman United Church since September 2019. She grew up in Abbotsford and has been a United Church keener her whole life. She spent her childhood and teen years going to church meetings and events and working at Cultus Lake United Church Camp. Knowing that she either wanted to be a minister or a physiotherapist, Kirstin pursued her education in Kinesiology knowing that it could go towards either choice. After years of a dual call and amazing experiences, ministry prevailed. In 2013, after three months on Iona, Kirstin started her masters at the Vancouver School of Theology. Mixed in with the formal education provided by the school were experiences in church leadership and prison chaplaincy. She served at Plura Hills after classes were finished and continued to serve there after her ordination in 2018
Kirstin is an old soul with a good sense of humour. She is able to connect with people of all ages, treating each person with respect. In her free time Kirstin enjoys things like playing fastball, playing trumpet in the New West Concert Band, and refinishing furniture.
